ANZAC Day observances

Peter W. Atkin, District Co-Ordinator of Loddon District 103, has circularised about ANZAC Day observances.

“This coming Saturday, April 25, is ANZAC Day, a time when we remember with both humility and pride those who have provided us with our freedom through their past, present and, no doubt, continual sacrifice.

“It is, therefore, fitting that, in the current circumstances of ‘personal distancing’ due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic were we are precluded from joining traditional ‘marches of remembrance’ and in our Masonic tributes portrayed in our ‘Vacant Chair’ ceremonies, we find a way to show our gratitude.

“It is with this in mind that members of the Loddon District 103 is asking all Brethren in Victoria to join them in adopting a portion of the Ode to the Fallen commencing at the going down of the sun on Saturday, April 25 by placing a light (preferably a torch rather than a candle) in our front window that will remain there until the morning of Sunday, April 26.

At 9’oclock on the ANZAC Day evening, we ask you to charge your glasses, be upstanding and offer a toast to all our fallen Brethren as:

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
“Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”

Brethren, I hope you will join us.
