Business Meeting next week

Garry Runge, Grand Secretary, has distributed a booklet for the Business Meeting that replaces the Quarterly Communication at 7.30pm on Wednesday (Dec. 16). A link is to be provided on the night to the pre-recorded meeting. The booklet includes contributions from Richard Elkington (Grand Master), Myles King (President of the Board of General Purposes), Craig Head (Grand Treasurer), Freemasons Foundation Victoria, Royal Freemasons, Peter Julier and Peter Gurr. Communications Success

• Daniel Jade, CentralDistrict Co-Ordinator, contributes the lead article to the Central District News, which includes a spotlight on Old Scotch Collegians Lodge, an article on American Freemason Presidents, and District 111 news.

Recovery Team meets

• Anthony Bucca, Deputy Grand Master, served in his role of Chair of the Freemasons Future Recovery Team, yesterday (Wed.) with a meeting of more than 20 representatives. Their Manual will be presented tonight (Thu.) to the Board of General Purposes.

Freemasonry At Work

• Emmanuel Marabeliotakis, Western District, reports that more than $1500 of items have already been donated towards the Christmas needs of deserving families. More than $2000 in cash has also been donated. The Greek Orthodox Community Church in St Albans have formally thanked Freemasons for help with their Christmas Food Drive. “Not only have we managed to raise more support than the church ever expected, but we have taken a big step towards a positive relationship with the Greek Orthodox Church and community,” says Manny.

Famous Freemasons
•  Simpson, Russell McCaskill (1880-1959) – Russell Simpson was a prolific American character actor who enjoyed a 45-year long career spanning 1914 to 1959. He first appeared in fellow Freemason Cecil B. DeMille’s silent film The Virginian in 1914 but Simpson is probably most known for his role as ‘Pa Joad’ in The Grapes of Wrath (1940). His last film was The Horse Soldiers (1959) starring John Wayne and William Holden. An active Freemason, “Beloved by all who knew him” is inscribed on Russell Simpson’s Masonically engraved gravestone.
