Sad News: Vale VWBro. Anton Alers, DGSuptWorks
• The Grand Almoner has made this announcement this morning: “It is with a heavy heart that I let you know of the passing of VWBro Anton Alers to the Grand Lodge Above after a very short illness. Our thoughts and prayers are with Christine, Alex and Tanya at this very sad time. Rest in eternal peace my Brother and friend.”

1. This Week

• The sum of $13,500 was raised for charity when Anthony Bucca, the Grand Master, officiated at the Installation of Mario Sbriglio at the Sunshine Wisdom Lodge at Freemasons Western (Sunshine) last Saturday, May 13.
• The Grand Master donated $5000 towards a local charity when he attended the Master’s Last Night at Seaford Lodge at Freemasons Baxter.
• The Grand Master, Anthony Bucca, was in attendance for the presentation last night (Wed., May 17) of scholarships by Freemasons Foundation Victoria.
• The Grand Master will speak on Rhetoric and WBro. Sir Redmond Barry at the Victorian Lodge of Research at the Grandview Hotel, Fairfield, on Friday (May 19). Zoom attendees will be admitted at 8.30pm: BOOK Password: 121476 and Meeting ID: 836 2663 6235
• Rehearsals have been underway for the Reconsecration of the United Press Lodge, involving the Grand Master. The event will take place at Freemasons Box Hill on Saturday, March 20.
• An Installation is taking place at Deniliquin (NSW) on the May 26-28 weekend, tyling at 3pm on Saturday, May 27. A ladies afternoon tea function ($20) will be hosted by local Mayor, Cr Peta Betts. The banquet ($40) will take place from 6.30pm at the Deniliquin RSL private dining room.
• The Grand Master and his Deputy intend to travel to Sydney on the September 16-17 weekend for the Re-Installation of Leslie Hicks as Grand Master. The team was unable to attend the Installation of MWBro Hicks due to COVID restrictions last year. The Grand Master would welcome any team members who wish to form a delegation to travel that weekend with him.

• Monash Gully District Taskforce helped at the Monash Children’s Hospital walk on Sunday, May 7, an event to raise funds for the hospital.
• A $6000 cheque was presented to the Rebecca Jane Foundation following assistance by Freemasons Foundation Victoria.
• Partners and wives are also invited to hear the This Man’s Worth talk by John Patterson and Craig Wood at Glenroy Lodge (Freemasons Essendon) at 7.30pm on Wednesday, June 7.
• Deadline for nominations for the Masonic Council and Commercial Council is 5pm, Wednesday (May 24).
• Best wishes to Wayne Smith of the Chapter/Mark on his health recovery.
Rutherglen Lodge’s Installation had to be postponed because the Master-Elect Steven Ring had COVID. A new date has been set: Saturday, June 3.
Mark Gealer, a Grand Lodge Organist, confirms that there will be a GL Escort for his 40-year jewel presentation at Lodge of Good Companions at Freemasons Waverley on Monday, August 21.
