Laurie Jacobs, Secretary of the Lodge of Commerce, writes about Wor. Bro. Doug Stirling appearing on TV at 4pm on Friday (April 24):

“I’ve just seen a trailer for the Story of The Great Ocean Road which will be on SBS at 4pm on Friday April 24).

“One of the historians from Lorne who gave a short introduction was Wor. Bro. Doug Stirling PM from the Lodge of The Great Ocean Road, whose family’s story is briefly summarised in https://www.lornehistoricalsociety.org.au/history/families-of-lorne/

Doug also has a walk named in his honour in the Lorne hinterland.

The attached photo is from my in-laws Peg and Len Cockerill, Peg’s dad was a Returned Serviceman from the 8th Light Horse, transferred to 3rd Light Horse an then back to the 8th, later to serve in Sigs (before Barry Minster’s time), and later upon his return to Australia, worked on The Great Ocean Road.
