As We Were Saying …

• Sincere apologies for the long time between FVNews editions. The Editor’s lengthy recovery from COVID and a heavy workload proved to be temporary hurdles. Hopefully we’re now back on track. Thanks for everyone’s good wishes in the meantime. In this issue, details appear only of those Lodge meetings which have been notified by Lodge scribes. Normal format will return soon.

1. This Week

• The Grand Master, Anthony Bucca, is now back on track after a bout of illness put him in pit lane for a while.
• He hit the ground running. A triple First Degree at Ivanhoe Lodge, a Members’ Meeting of the Freemasons Foundation, the presentation of Warrant of the combined Sunbury-Macedon Ranges Lodge, and a Dinner for the Homes Trustees have been some of the activities.
• The Grand Master attended a Strategic Action Planning all-day meeting last Sunday (Nov. 12) at East Melbourne, held by the Masonic Council and Commercial Council. It was also attended by the Deputy Grand Master, Grand Secretary, and several Senior Grand Officerts. Facilitator was Robert Brennand.
• The Grand Master will attend the Mark Quarterly Communication tonight (Wed.), the Blue Ribbon Ball on Friday, the Clifton Hill Lodge Reconsecration on Saturday, and a 2024-25 Team luncheon at Bayside on Sunday. Next week sees the Grand Master attending the Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Address by Sir Peter Cogrove at the Australian Club on Tuesday, an initiation at Lodge Fraternal at Bayside on Wednesday, and the Amicus installation (David Fisher) on Saturday, November 25.

2. Pithy Paragraphs
• Some 70 adults and nine children have booked for the Grand Team social weekend to be held at Echuca on the March 22-24 weekend. Activities include a luncheon cruise on the MV Mary Ann.
•

Grand Secretary Bruce Cowie will unveil a Centenary Plaque at Ivalda Masonic Centre on Thursday, December 7. Ivanhoe Lodge is hosting a Christmas-themed District Night. Bookings ($40) can be made HERE

Applications for Grand Rank conferrals and promotions can be made by Lodges prior to Friday, December 10.
• Bunnings advise that if mascots are used at Sausage Sizzles, Working With Children permits are required.

3. ‘Have You Anything To Communicate?’

• Neil Addison advises that Woodend Daylight Lodge will hold the Kyneton District Lodges Annual Barbecue Celebration at 12 Noon on Sunday, December 3 at the Zetland Masonic Centre, 3 Piper St, Kyneton. The Lodge is supplying meat, bread and condiments. • Len Richardson advises that the Grand Lodge Choir will perform a concert at Coppin Hall at 2pm on Sunday, December 3. All welcome. The choirhas performed at the Grand Installation and Quarterlies. The Choir is recruiting: you need to be able to hold a tune. A rehearsal is being held on Sunday, November 19.
