Masonic Mailbag
• Scouts Victoria teach us a lesson in marketing with their latest media release with news that their members regard themselves as more resilient and self-confident: “Research confirms that Scouting programs give young Australians critical advantages in life. Young people participating in Scouts demonstrated higher levels of resilience, self-confidence, mental wellbeing and the emotional capacity to cope with difficult times such as the recent bushfire crisis orCOVID-19 isolation. The survey by Resilient Youth Australia (in conjunction with the University of SA) compared the responses of young people aged 8-18 who attend Scouts with those who do not. Compared with other young people of the same age, Scouts across Australia:• Are more optimistic about their future• Hold more positive values
• Enjoy greater life satisfaction
• Feel healthier – physically and mentally
• Have better life satisfaction
• Have more fun at school
• Are more likely to help other people, and help out at school
• Contribute more to their local community
Letter FROM The Editor
• Editor Ash Long writes: “Apologies that we missed an edition on Friday (May 29). We were overloaded with personal business which demanded our immediate attention. You may know that our family company publishes newspapers. News Corp stopped the presses on its Leader newspapers on Thursday, so our company will be publishing our own weekly local papers in municipalities including Banyule, Boroondara, Darebin, Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash, Nillumbik, Whitehorse and Whittlesea. This will be good news for Lodges seeking free publicity to promote themselves and their events.” LINK
Masonic Trivia
