2. Advice for Masonic Leaders
• If you are a Masonic leader, much of your leadership will be judged on your ability to say ‘thank you’.
• It is difficult to say ‘thank you’ too often. If you have said ‘thanks’ too much, you’ll be told. In the meantime, keep thanking.
• The help you have just been given came from a volunteer, who may have spent some hours on the task.
• Avoid the “I’m smarter than you are” factor by pointing out how you would have done the task differently.
• Be clever. If a colleague has prepared a document for example, avoid a focus on the missing apostrophe or the typo. You will stub out their enthusiasm.
• That’s ‘little picture’ stuff. Praise them for their ‘big picture’ contribution. There will be plenty of time to re-tune. Act like a leader, not like a pedant.

• Steer around the power game. Don’t treat them as a junior in the arrangement. You are equal peers, whatever the rank situation.
• Thank you for your attention.

3. Pithy Paragraphs
• Greater Melbourne is in lockdown until at least 11.59pm, Thursday, September 2.
• Any changes to Greater Melbourne arrangements for Lodges after that date must be first announced by the Grand Secretary, after a decision by the Masonic Governing Council, following recommendations by the Freemasons Future Recovery Team.
• In regional Victoria, one of the rules of meeting is ‘density limits’. There is a good explanation in the Freemasons Victoria News sent by email on Monday (Aug. 16). Masks are mandatory, so are QR codes, sanitiser is all important.
• What’s On listings are subject to change, often at short notice. Some Installations listed in good faith may be affected due to the inability of metro teams being unable to travel.
• Notices of Deaths and Funeral Services are updated daily on the Freemasons Victoria Alomners Bulletin Board page on Facebook. The Grand Almoner is David Thompson.
