1. Vale MWPGM Carl Stewart
• Freemasons Victoria is mourning the passing of Past Grand Master Carl Stewart at age 90. A eulogy will be delivered this Saturday (Mar. 26) by his close friend Hillel Benedykt at the Quarterly Communication/Grand Re-Installation at Freemasons Bayside. Grand Master Richard Elkington broadcast his condolence message earlier this week, extending heartfelt thoughts to Pat and family.
• The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday (Mar. 28) at The Boyd Chapel, Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Second Ave, Springvale.
2. Grand Master’s Doings
• Grand Master Richard Elkington attended at Revival Lodge’s installation last Saturday (Mar. 19). He hosted a thorough interview with 75-year jewel recipient John Mountain.
• It was a Zoom link to remotely attend the DeMolay Installation held last Saturday (Mar. 19).• Social media photos have captured Richard’s presentation to Ralph Blackmore at Drysdale. Richard’s return trip to Traralgon was via the Queenscliff-Sorrento ferry.
• Richard and wife Kathleen will be hosting a number of Australasian visitors at Saturday’s Quarterly Communication, Grand Re-Installation and Banquet.
• The Grand Master is travelling to Wodonga on Friday, April 7-Saturday, April 8, and will conduct an informal meeting with North-East Victorian members on the Saturday morning at Freemasons Wodonga. He will drive back to Melbourne that afternoon to attend Garibaldi Lodge.
• Richard will address a Joint Meeting of the Masonic Council and the Commercial Council on Tuesday (Mar. 29) at Freemasons Victoria.
3. Pithy Paragraphs
• A report on the first minutes of the Masonic Council, chaired by Deputy Grand Master Anthony Bucca, will be given at this Saturday’s Quarterly Communication.
• A good word for … Graham Berry and Julia Edwards (and many others too) who have worked around the clock to prepare for this Saturday’s Quarterly Communication and Grand Re-Installation at Freemasons Bayside, and the Banquet that follows at the Park Hyatt.
• The Shepparton News reports that key representatives of Freemasons Foundation Victoria are taking to the road this month to touch base and explore opportunities for continued support of communities in Northern Victoria. READ MORE
• Len Lacey delivered the Cryptic Rite story lecture, written by Rod Bedman, at the Lilydale RAM Lodge.
• Felix Pintado has been voted as Chair of the Freemasons Victoria Commercial Council. Trevor Somerville is Deputy Chair.
• Eddie Hutchinson says Samaritan Lodge has its sights on raising up to $2000 for flood-affected victims in Lismore, NSW. He has thanked Eric Williams, Tommy Di Natale and Alan Gange of Lord Northcote Lodge. The funds will be distributed through Graham Moon of Tweed Daylight Lodge.
• Lionel Cyril Marks PGIWkgs passed away at 98 years of age. The family would like to involve Freemasons to support through the eulogy process. His current affiliation was with United Schools. The funeral service is at 9.30am on Friday (March 25) at Boyd Cemetery at Springvale. The director, Graeme Moody, is contactable on Graeme.Moody@lepinefunerals.com.au or via 9808 8888.
• Uncle Bobs Club-Freemasons collections at 7-Eleven stores for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal have been cancelled.

• A UGLE statement, accompanying a £350,000 fundraiser for Ukraine people, said: “Freemasonry has always taken steps to avoid divisive discourse which can promote conflict in the Lodge. All three of the Home Grand Lodges have a long-standing policy of not expressing opinion on State or foreign policy either at home or abroad. The aim of this policy is to foster a harmonious environment within an ever-turbulent wider world. We hope that peace soon prevails. In the meantime, our efforts towards supporting humanitarian aid will continue.”
