1. Last Day of Convention:
Still Time To Attend Today

• The final day of the Victorian Freemasons Convention 2022 is being held today (Sunday, August 28) at Freemasons Melbourne, 288 Victoria Pde, East Melbourne. Easy parking is at its best on Sundays.

• The morning sessions from 10am-11.30am include ‘Chapter Ceremony – explained and demystified’, a discussion with the award winners (Matthew Hall, Jason Gribble, Brighton District Lodge, Williamstown Chapter, Werribee Mark), and talks on ‘Masonry is Mystery’ (Kane Ord) and ‘What Is Freemasonry For?’ (John Molnar).
• Lunch-time (11.30am-1pm) gives attendees the opportunity to mix socially, as well as a chance to inspect the display stalls and heritage works.
• The afternoon (1pm-2.30pm) will see keynote speaker Martin Faulks from Lewis Masonic (UK) speak on the Kabbalalistic use of Hebrew letters in early Freemasonry.
• From 2.30pm-3pm will be the closure with remarks from leaders, with a 3pm-4pm session for drinks and nibbles.

2. Numbers Exceed Expectations

• Attendance numbers have far exceeded the early expectations of organisers. On Friday night (August 26), Acting Grand Master Anthony Bucca passed the limelight to Immediate Past Grand Master Richard Elkington who gave a detailed talk on the event organisation behind this first Convention. Wes Turnbull hosted a panel session with the heads of other Masonic Orders, which included questions from the audience.
• The Saturday session began with keynote speaker Andrew Hammer, whose talk ‘What Come We Here To Do?’ emphasised quality of membership rather than quantity. The mid-morning sessions covered Craft Ritual and Ceremonial, Ceremonial, Membership (Milton Mann), Lions Club Membership (Ann Eldridge), Craig Phillips (‘Reviving A Lodge’), an entertaining history talk (Brendan Kyne) and ‘Masonic Symbolism’ (Ari Indra).
• After lunch, Glenn Hollibone narrated the Mark Man Ceremony, there was a keystone carving demonstration by Cameron Rae, talks on the Task Force (Bernard Henry), ‘Gather My Crew’ (Harry Pontikas) and the Freemasons Foundation (Rodney Lavin). Another session offered a tour of the Lodge of Research online education portal, and a session on mentorship.
