Good Grandfathers

• We often promote Freemasonry as an organisation that helps men become better husbands, better fathers and better men. Given that our average age is 68, perhaps we should add that our teachings include how to become grandfathers. Seniors.com.au publishes a guide that says it is often the grandparents that are the people who assist teenagers navigate their way if they are LGBTIQ. These are often tough conversations to have. The Better Health Channel offers signposts to the various services that are available.

Famous Freemasons
•  Smith, Admiral Sir William Sidney (1764-1840) – Sidney Smith was the British admiral of whom Napoleon Bonaparte said, “That man made me miss my destiny”. The remark followed Smith’s imaginative and successful defence of Acre (on the coast of modern day Israel) against the siege of 13,000 French Regulars led by Napoleon himself. Smith bombarded the French from the sea and from the town and, in May 1799, Napoleon withdrew. Smith served much of his naval career in the Mediterranean acting against Napoleonic forces. In the style of Admiral Nelson, Smith was a dynamic leader whose star should have shone brighter, but Nelson disliked Smith and Nelson’s influence held back his career. In 1811, Smith was made a fellow of The Royal Society of London; a society formed from members of the “Invisible College” by Freemasons in November 1660.”
– Timothy Horton

Masonic Knowledge
• Wayne Motton offered this explanation of Freemasonry at an Open Installation: “For those of you who are still wondering what we really do in Freemasonry, let me help you by describing it in ‘Modern Corporate Terms’: Freemasonry is a ‘progressive’, ‘best practice’, ‘globally recognised’,

7-Year Executive Training Program’ with a ‘non-disclosure agreement’ and a ‘single entry level’. It gives the trainee a ‘learning experience’ by setting achievable milestones initially over three distinct levels. As you further progress, you are given ‘Practical Applications’ in the ‘Skill Sets’ underpinning the positive momentum of your progressive reality.

• “You mentor the person following you through the training and positions, by teaching them ‘core values’. And you in turn are mentored by the person preceding you in the ‘practical application of your future development’. By the time you reach the Master’s Chair, your ‘Paradigm Shift’ from ‘Applicant to CEO’ is complete.

If it works well, it is a win-win situation for you and your family, and a show stopper for the Lodge.”Masonic Wisdom
• “Freemasonry embraces the highest moral laws and will bear the test of any system of ethics or philosophy ever promulgated for the uplift of man.” – Douglas McArthur

The Last Word
• “Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” – Bro. Norman Vincent Peale
