Tragic loss of four Police ‘heroes’
The Victorian Masonic community is in deep shock following the tragic Eastern Freeway accident on Wednesday night (Apr. 22) which claimed the lives of four Police members.
Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graeme Ashton accurately described the four as “heroes”. Young members who put themselves in harm’s way to protect the community. The Freemasons of Victoria join in extending the deepest sympathy to the families and colleagues. They are in our prayers.
As a retired police officer and Grand Secretary, I know how close the Masonic family is to the members of the Victoria Police community. Freemasons Victoria has been a close and active supporter of the Blue Ribbon Foundation for a number of years.
No doubt I speak for the leadership of Freemasons Victoria regarding this distressing incident in sharing our heartfelt condolences to the families of those lost.
I join with my Masonic and former Police colleague, Myles King, in recommending that Victorian Freemasons demonstrate their support by displaying a virtual blue ribbon: https://twibbon.com/support/in-their-honour. In a more practical way, donations to the four families may be made at this address: https://remember.org.au/donate/
