Vale Peter Clifford
• We regret to advise of the passing to the Grand Lodge Above of RWor. Bro. Peter Clifford, PSGW onWednesday (July 8). He had been aFreemason for 53 years. His  Grand Lodge Team involvement was in 1988-89 when he was Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies. Positive COVID-19 test
• Tanya Connor, Chief Operations Officer of Royal Freemasons, has circularised: “A person who has worked at Gregory Lodge recently has returned a positive test for COVID-19. The Department of Health has been notified and we are working closely with them. 
• “All residents are well and none are showing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 at this time. As the situation evolves, we want to reassure you that we are, and will continue to implement all possible measures to contain the spread within the facility to protect our residents, staff and the wider community. The facility was recently closed to visitors due to its proximity to the local cluster of cases in Flemington and this visiting restriction will remain in place.”

The Numbers Game
• Victoria’s latest lockdown has been accompanied by a hunger for Masonic communication. Yesterday (Thurs.) was the first day of the tighter “stay at home” restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Yesterday also saw the biggest day ever of new opt-in subscribers for FVNews Daily.
• The Communications and Marketing Volunteer Action Team’s efforts in ‘cleaning up’ the online behaviour by members at Freemasons Victoria social media pages is showing encouraging results. Most members have grasped the push for ‘positive news only’. A statistical example: in the past 28 days, the Freemasons Victoria page on Facebook saw 11,368 people reached, up 188 per cent. Post Engagements were 5846, up 488 per cent. (Post engagements can include actions such as reacting to, commenting on or sharing, claiming an offer, viewing a photo or video, or clicking on a link.)

$500,000 defamation case
• The Courier Mail (Queensland) reports on a District Court defamation claim for $500,000: “The court case will centre on the monthly board meeting of the Board of Management of the United Grand Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Freemasons of Queensland … Grand Treasurer Phillip Lawrence Cohen, a registered tax agent and former solicitor who lives in Tamborine, claims he was defamed by then-directorDamon Peter Fealy, a startup guru.” LINK

Four tablets arranged by Masons
• “Patients at St Giles Hospice in Lichfield (UK) will find it easier to keep in contact with relatives and friends thanks to the generosity ofStaffordshire Freemasons. Local freemason Stuart Wilton realised that patients might find it more difficult to stay in touch with loved ones due to self-isolation and social distancing measures introduced during the COVID-19 crisis and decided that he wanted to buy four computer tablets for the hospice so that patients could enjoy virtual meetings from their rooms. The idea was taken forward by the Staffordshire Freemasons Almoner,Tony Coates, who also works for IT company Terrafix, based in Stoke-on-Trent.
