Happy 99th Birthday, Don
• Mitchell River Lodge, Bairnsdale member Don McPherson, PM, turns 99 today (Aug. 14). He is a patient in Magnolia Ward at Opal Aged Care in Paynesville, phone 5153 8400. On this 75th anniversary of VP Day (Victory in the Pacific) it is poignant to note that Don was a commando in New Guinea during WWII. (Thanks to Jim Basham)
Preparation for Masters
• Geoff Newby, District Co-Ordinator for Gippsland East, says that response to the Preparation for Masters online courses have been well supported. From the feedback received thus far, a second group of sessions is being prepared and will be held from 10 am to 12 Noon on Saturdays, September 5, 12 and 19. Places are filling fast. EMAIL
COVID Cookbook Success
• Wayne Motton says the COVID-19 Masonic Cookbook is coming together nicely. There is still an opportunity to contribute. Wayne says: “Perhaps a soup, a snack, a main meal or dessert that your Grandmother made you or something new you’ve discovered previously unused recipe books.”• “Those who submit a recipe item will receive an e-book of all of the recipes that we receive. There is no charge. Take a photo of the dish and forward it with the recipe and instructions with your Rank, Lodge Name and Number to EMAIL

• The Union Lodge of North Gippsland held its first-ever Zoom meeting last night (Thursday). Some 21 Masons attended. Guest speaker wasAsh Long, Chair of the Communications and Marketing Volunteer Action Team.

• Tony McDonall of Samaritan Lodge, passes on the excellent COVID Communication (edited by Eddie Hutchinson), which notes that Len Jinnette intends to be Master of the Lodge in 2022, “his 100th year on the planet”.
