Vale John Baldwin
• Andrew Burman of Old Melburnians Lodge writes: “I regret to inform you that John passed to the Grand Lodge Above early Wednesday morning. John was diagnosed with liver cancer in May and received treatment which was going well until about a week ago. He is now at rest with no pain.• “John was initiated into Freemasonry in another constitution in 1972, joined the OMs in 1981 and was the Master of the Lodge in 1988-89 and again in 2009-10. While John was not a regular attender at Lodge meetings in the last couple of years, he still helped set up the South on Tuesdays with John Plowright. He and Justine also attended our social functions when they were not away at their farm at the base of the Cathedral Ranges. John and Justine celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in early June with their children, their spouses and grandchildren.• “I have no details of a funeral or memorial service but will pass them on as soon they become available. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Justine and the rest of John’s family at this time.”

Oh Wonderful Mason

Mason being a Past First Grand Principal and Past Grand Master of the United Supreme Grand Chapter of Mark and Royal Arch Masons of NSW & ACT and he having joined a Mark Lodge and a Royal Arch Chapter within this jurisdiction and being a permanent resident of the State of Victoria.”

Lord Lyon at Old Scotch
• Gary Edwards writes: “It’s been with special interest that I’ve noted the listing for Old Scotch Collegians Lodge’s Proclamation of Joseph Morrow as Patron, on October 7. The Grand Secretary, Garry Runge, has approved his appointment as patron. • “However, on reading the listing, I wondered if there are many readers who don’t know who Joseph Morrow is and/or his relevance to OSCL as Patron. He is Lord Lyon, and the Past Grand Master of theGrand Lodge of Scotland .• “Lord Lyon is an appointment of H.M. The Queen or King (of Scotland), and he holds the traditional role of being responsible for the approval of all Scottish Coats of Arms, Tartans and ClansLord Lyonhas joined a couple of Old Scotch’s recent on-line Lodge meetings, and has said that he hopes to visit Australia next year and attend one of OSCL’s meetings in person, (lockdowns permitting).”
