1. Grand Master’s Doings
• Grand Master Richard Elkington was at the Consecration and Installation of Bharat Lodge at Freemasons Bayside on Saturday (Feb. 19).
• A visit to the Hand of Friendship Lodge at Coppin Hall was made on Wednesday (Feb. 16).
• Richard presided over the final meeting of the Masonic Governing Council on Thursday (Feb. 17).
• The Grand Master visited Neville Lee at Camberwell, and bestowed a Grand Master’s Order of Service (see below).
• Richard 
interviewed Daryl Cook at his 60-year jewel presentation at Union Lodge, Bairnsdale.

2. Pithy Paragraphs

• South Australian Freemasons have given approval for a $120 million tower in Adelaide. READ MORE

• Nominations are open for the Freemasons Victoria Deputy Grand Master Selection Panel.

• Geoff Tate, 99 in April, is due for his 80-year jewel. He is now living in Adelaide. He has been in Ringwood, Croydon and Lilydale Mark lodges.

• The Combined Schools Lodge meeting is scheduled for May.

• The Daily Mirror (UK) has described Freemasonry as “one of the most mysterious organisations in the UK“. READ MORE
• Lowan Lodge presented Colin Merrett with his 50-year jewel on February 15. Colin joined Lowan Lodge in November 1971. The jewel was presented by the lodge’s oldest member and Colin’s proposer, Max Carland. Colin was WM in 1985, which was Lowan Lodge’s 100th year of service.

• Bob Murdoch, who lives at Strathallan Homes, was visited by Samaritan Lodge members for a 50-year jewel presentation.

• There has been an encouraging response to the Cultural Engagement Survey, but more participation will be welcome.

• Congratulations to District 109 for their exhibition of Freemasonry at the Korumburra Show this month.

4. Well Done, Neville Lee

• TheGrand Master’s Order of Service presentation to Neville Lee OAM last week recognised his 70-year service to Freemasonry from his First Degree at Lodge of Hartwell in 1951, a Grand Team member from 1967-88, and his membership of Baden Powell Lodge. Neville’s Scouting service includes Chairman of the Camberwell Scout District Association, Procurement Officer for the Dandenong Jamboree in 1976-77, being Eastern Region Commissioner, member of the Victorian Branch Executive Committee, a Personnel Officer, and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was a City of Camberwell Councillor from 1956-64, and was Mayor in 1961. His community activities included Glen Iris Pre-School, Glen Iris Cricket Club, Burwood Sports Ground Committee, Ashburton Senior Citizens and Camberwell Historical Society. Neville has been a prominent Rotarian, and a Liberal Party activist since 1946.
