1. This Week

• Deputy Grand Master Anthony Bucca attended Lodge Bharat at Freemasons Melbourne on Friday (Jan. 27).

• He last week attended the Australia Day (Thu., Jan. 26) celebration at Freemasons Bayside, and topped up the funds raised by some thousands of dollars, so that $8000 could go to Freemasons Bayside Relief. VIEW Tsen Thau Shin’s photos.

• The Deputy Grand Master is looking forward to ceremonial work at the Installations of Lodge of Evolution at Freemasons Collingwood (Sat, Feb. 4), Lord Northcote Lodge (Sat., Feb. 11) which has moved to Bayside for the night, plus the Re-Consecration of Old Melburnians Lodge (Sat., Feb. 18) at Melbourne.

• The Acting Grand Master, supported by Peter Henshall, will be at the Mordialloc Lodge of Charity Installation (Bruce Stockdale) at Freemasons Keysborough at 6.30pm on Wednesday, March 8.

2. Independent Perspective of Governance

• External volunteers of Freemasons Victoria – Jane Boardman (Director of Freemasons Victoria Holdings Ltd), George Donikian and David Mann (Members of the Commercial Council) – have produced their own video with their perspectives about the governance of the organisation. The external members are not paid, they donate all their time and expertise. The video was independently produced, and is “in their own words”. VIEW HERE

3. Pithy Paragraphs

• Rod Lavin and Philip Mayers of the Freemasons Foundation Victoria have been touring flood-affected areas including Echuca, Rochester and Swan Hill to see the damage first-hand. The Foundation and Freemasons Victoria have combined to provide $700,000 in Floor Relief. READ MORE about the Foundation.

• Edward Charles ‘Ted’ Davis (Shepparton-Mooroopna) was a recipient of the Medal (OAM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia, announced last Thursday (Jan. 26) in conjunction with Australia Day 2023. Alan Roy Farmer, formerly of The Athenaeum Lodge, was recognised for service to community health.
• Congratulations to Neil Jarrott on being awarded the title of Rural City of Wangaratta Citizen of the Year. As well as an outstanding contribution to his local community of Moyhu, Neil’s musical talents are appreciated by various Lodges and Masonic Orders throughout the North-East, including Rutherglen Lodge.
• Frank Warner, Finance and Business Support Manager, is retiring and leaves with FV’s best wishes tomorrow (Tue., Jan. 31). Frank joined the staff in February 2017 as Manager Corporate Services. After an independent selection process,  VWBro. Robert Brennand, Grand Treasurer, has been selected as the Finance and Business Support Manager. He will step down from his role as Grand Treasurer.
• Rob Coslovich is Business Development Manager – Property and Danny Mulcahy is the Facilities Coordinator. 
• Lodge Belvoir will not meet at Wodonga in February, but will instead combine with the Wangaratta Lodge of St John which has a First Degree on Wednesday, February 22.

6. Lodge Liberation Highlight

• There’s something special happening at Lodge Liberation at Waverley on Tuesday, February 7.7.30pm. The history of Lodge Liberation, narrated by Ian Samuel and Neil Nyholm. This involves a series of seven personal accounts about life as a Prisoner-of-War in Changi, Singapore. This includes the story of Bro. Sir Weary Dunlop.• 8.30pm. Wine and Whisky Tasting. Brethren of all lodges are invited to bring along potential candidates wanting to join any of our District Lodges. It’s going to be a fun night. Cost is $20 which includes a two course dinner, drinks and fellowship.
