1. This Week

• Deputy Grand Master (as Acting Grand Master) Anthony Bucca has returned with the Grand Lodge Team for the Grand Installation in Tasmania.
• Tony
presided at the Re-Consecration of Old Melburnians Lodge, offering a collection of 100-year-old newspaper clippings about the event. The Lodge’s early days saw the Archbishop as Master of the Lodge, and the initiation of Australian Prime Minister Stanley Melbourne Bruce.
The countdown is on until the Grand Installation on the March 24-26 weekend.
• When he is installed as Grand Master, Anthony Bucca will be using the theme of ‘Bringing Happiness To Others’. Grand Masters have had a tradition in recent years to adopt their own slogan/motto/position statement.
• The Deputy Grand Master will be Installing Master at the Mordialloc Lodge of Charity Installation at Keysborough on Wednesday next week (Mar. 8).
• The Deputy Grand Master will be Installing Master at Doutta Galla Lodge’s Installation this Thursday (Mar. 2) at Essendon.

• The Deputy Grand Master will be Installing Master at the Lodge Bharat Installation on Saturday, March 16 at Freemasons Melbourne.

FVNews Editor Ash Long has been on several weeks’ family leave, and extends thanks all for their condolence messages on the passing of his mother Marjory.
• 
Monash Lodge will see Peter Julier presented with his 50-year service jewel by Bob Jones at 7pm on Wednesday, March 8. BOOK by March 1, $40.• The Annual Combined Schools Lodges Meeting will be hosted by Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge at Freemasons Ivalda at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 4. Peter Henshall with Grand Lodge Escort will be in attendance. Member lodges are University Lodge, Old Melburnians, Wesley Collegians, Old Scotch Collegians, Ivanhoe Grammarians, Mount Scopus and Collegians’ Lodge, Melbourne High School and United Schools’. • 
Freemasons Foundation Victoria Bursaries are open for applications now. This is financial support to complete a course of tertiary study. Applications close March 31. Details: https://www.freemasonsfoundation.org/secondaryandexternaltertiaryscholarship

• The sum of $150,000 has been paid by Freemasons Victoria to members who are flood victims. This is part of the overall $700,000 being given by FV and the Freemasons Foundation.

• The vote on Constitution Change held in conjunction with the Special Communication on February 8 saw a ‘Yes’ vote of 1375 (76.3 per cent), and a ‘No’ vote of 427. The total vote of 1802 saw the highest participation in the Victorian fraternity’s 134-year history. The Masonic Council and Commercial Council are both now in caretaker mode. Nominations will soon be called, with elections to follow.
• The Knights Templar Open Day is being held at Freemasons Bayside from 1pm-5pm on Sunday, April 2.
Public Schools Mark returned their Warrant on February 16. Balnarring Lodge’s warrant was returned on February 10.
Rod Lavin and Emmanuel Marabeliotakis have featured in photos relating to $5000 raised for the Abbey Solo Foundation.
Admiral Collingwood Lodge is looking to hold Emergency Meetings on May 16 and 30, either side of its May 23 regular meeting, for Third Degrees.
• Army Lodge has received publicity in a Department of Veterans’ Affairs newsletter. The item is headlined ‘Brothers In Arms’.

Kyabram Lodge won publicity in the Free Press for its Taste and Tunes Festival.

• Dispensation has been given for regalia to be worn in an Easter Monday Parade at Maldon, advises Ken Calder. A barbecue meal and drinks will follow the 10am parade.

Stanley Smith will be 100 years of age on March 8. He is a member of Keysborough St Andrews Daylight Lodge.

Williamstown St Andrew Lodge is changing its meeting nights to fourth Thursdays. The June and July meetings are to be suspended.

• Latest giving by Freemasons Foundation Victoria includes Masonic Grants for Canterbury Lodge (Interchange Outer East), $9940; Hamilton Grange Lodge (Hamilton Scout Group), $600; Swan Hill Lodge (Ambulance Victoria – Swan Hill), $1320; The Army Lodge (Quilts of Valour Australia)), $5000; Portland Lodge (Kyeema Support Services), $4500; Sunshine Wisdom Lodge (Joseph’s Corner), $7716; SEAVIC Lodge (Think Pink Foundation), $5000; and FFV Board (Victoria Police Legacy), $10,000.

Scholarship donations include Ongoing Tertiary Scholarships, $25,000; Monash University, $11,000; and Marcus Oldham College, $6000.
Education Support Grants include Talbot Lodge, $300; and Mitchell River Lodge, $3000.
Named Sun Funds are SEAVIC Lodge (Think Pink Foundation), $1450; and Friends of Epworth (Epworth Foundation), $34,000.
